Board Care
We want you to enjoy your new board for years to come!
For best results, please follow these care instructions.
Washing your board:
Do not place your board in a dishwasher. Doing so will result in damage.
Hand wash your board with warm soapy water. Do not submerge your board.
Allow your board to air dry on all sides before placing it in storage.
Avoid placing your board, while wet, onto metal cooling racks. This may stain the wood.
Do not place your board in the oven. Doing so may result in the protective oil and waxes melting.
Routine maintenance:
Depending on how you use your board, you will need to periodically re-apply board butter (a mixture of mineral oil and beeswax available from Hickory Road Woodworks).
If using your board on a regular basis, you may need to apply a new layer of board butter every 3 months.
If your board is used mostly as decoration, apply board butter as needed if the wood surface becomes dull or flat and feels dry to the touch.
Some woods, such as purpleheart and padauk, become discolored and fade to gray when exposed to UV light. If your board contains these woods, please avoid leaving it in direct sunlight.
With proper care, your Hickory Road Woodworks products can remain beautiful and functional for a long time!
