Where are your items made?

Hickory Road Woodworks products are personally made by us in Gardendale, Alabama. We believe in supporting local businesses, and strive to source all materials locally when available. We put special attention to detail into each of our creations.

What wood species do you use?

We use both domestic and exotic species, which allows for a wide variety of color, grain pattern, strength, and texture. We buy all species locally and we try to use locally sourced domestic woods whenever possible.

Why may the board sizing vary?

There are two main reasons why our board sizing may vary slightly.

All of our boards are hand crafted. Sometimes this means that a board may be a little larger or a little smaller than the average size. We do our best to keep this variance to a minimum.
Wood is a natural resource (not made in a factory), and it often will hold some unique surprises. A lot of times, these surprises are good - but sometimes they are not. When dimensioning a board, we may trim it down to eliminate any unsightly defects from the wood.

Our boards may vary up to 1" in length and/or width, and up to 1/4" in thickness.
